Hélène Navasse

graduated from 3 academies: in France at CNR Boulogne (1st prize), in Holland at Sweelinck Conservatorium Amsterdam (class soloist, chamber and new music-class), and in Denmark, where she debuted at the Royal Danish Music Conservatorium's soloist class in 2001.

As a 18 year old, Hélène won the position as solo flautist in Polychromie, French ensemble for contemporary music (Sinfonietta). A position she resigned after 3 years for studying further in Amsterdam.

In 1999, Hélène won the post of co-solo flutist at the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra.

In 2005 Hélène chooses to be freelance solo flutist, particulary within new music. She is member of the new music ensembles Scenatet and Contemporánea. Hélène is an active chambermusic player, playing with duo Havamal, Fatamorgana. From 2007 up to 2012, Hélène was flautist from the award-winning woodwind quintet Carion, with whom she won in May 2011 3. prize at Osaka International Chamber music Festa.

Since 2008, Hélène is full-member of Scenatet, ensemble for music and art, and since 2010 of Contemporánea, Copenhagen ensemble for electro-accoustic music.

Hélène has as soloist performed works with orchestras / ensembles by Boulez, Nordheim, Saint-Saens, Mozart, and premiered in 2008 Peter Bruun's solo concert "Innocent Mind and Mayday " as soloist with Århus Sinfonietta. In oktober 2011, she gave its Icelandic première at Nordic Music Days in Reykjavik- Iceland together with Reykjavik Chamber Orchestra.

In June 2010, she appered in solo at Athelas New Music Festival, where she cooperated with the American composer David Lang from ensemble 'Bang On A Can' New York.

She has performed and recorded new music in several countries in Europe with reknown ensembles such as Nieuw Ensemble, Schoenberg Ensemble, Musik Fabrik and Klang Forum Vienna (where she was the other finalist for solo post in 1998). Hélène has been radiotransmitted in France, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Germany and Japan.

Hélène has worked with "personality within new music" such as S. Mälkki, D. Pocelijn, Beat Furrer, Sylvain Cambrelain. Within jazz world, she has played with Marilyn Mazur, Mads Vinding and collaborated with Irene Becker and Pierre Dørge from New Jungle Orchestra.

Hélène is considered as an "innovative artist", so as with her upright basflute she experiments with live electronics and improvisation, or other projects involving, inter alia, videos or live painting during concerts.
